11/5/2023 0 Comments Koh tao hostelThe swimming pool itself was great - they use salt instead of chlorine, which is both appreciated for the skin and hair. ![]() The big advantage is a deep swimming pool at the hostel where you can practise diving skills before going into the open water. As I was staying for a week the hostel offers a good deal for the accommodation combined with diving. Diving: I did the PADI open water course organised via dear hostel. Shared Bathroom: clean, modern and nicely smelling bathrooms with shampoo and soap provided in the showers. Such a simple and smart solution! Lovely and friendly cleaning ladies as well:)) The hostel itself surrounded by palm trees I would definitely recommend to check out their common space on the 3rd floor (pictures attached). Modern and fresh decor with partitions between beds for more privacy. Hostel/Dorms: I stayed for a week in a female dorm which I would recommend - sheets changed every 3 days, new towels available daily if needed, clean and nice smelling space, and comfortable beds that were not bunk beds. Apologies for shouting, but I had an incredible experience of staying in the Dearly hostel. So if you're planning on going out at night in town and don't want to drive back drunk you'll have to organise a taxi (you might be able to do this through the hotel I don't know so maybe check with them).… It's on the south side of the island and because of that a 10/15 min motorcycle drive away from the main town on Koh Tao. Highly recommend the muesli bowl it was full of seasonal fruits and a delicious way to start the day! The only thing I'd say is a slight negative for the Dearly is it's location. The breakfast was great, especially for the private room as you'll get to chose an extra fancy breakfast that gets made fresh for you. Toilet was separate from the shower in our private room which is always nice. ![]() It was very clean and lots of natural light came in through the large windows. The room was really spacious and had a nice big reading nook (which kind of was an extra single bed) next to the window. ![]() You can also book transport to and from the ferry jetty through them. They also helped us with recommendations on lunch/dinner spot and motorcycle rental. The staff were absolutely amazing and super friendly, check-in was super easy and within no time we were in our room. Resort Fuerteventura Origo Mare by Pierre & Vacances.Radisson Blu Beach Resort, Milatos Crete.Bike rental and taxi boats are also available. A lot of it is walkable, or you could catch a taxi. If you’re travelling by rail, there's a sleeper train from Bangkok to Chumphon train station, then a boat crossing. You can hop onto an overnight bus from the capital then take the two to three-hour boat ride over to the island. Most travellers working their way down from Bangkok head to Koh Tao first as it’s the most northerly of the east-coast islands. Mango Bay on the northern shore has a small beach with coral reefs, perfect for snorkelling or just soaking up the sun. As you travel north, you’ll discover some of the best diving spots including White Rock and Shark Island. Start at the island's southernmost tip at John Suwan Viewpoint for 360 degree views over the island and out to sea. On the east coast, there’s Tanote Bay – a quiet beach spot with a handful of shops and restaurants.Īt only 7km long and 3km wide, it’s easy to explore the whole of Koh Tao. You’ll find lots of bars and beach clubs throwing all-day parties here. Chalok Baan Kao Bay on the south coast is known for its chilled vibe and quiet beaches, while Sairee Beach on the west coast is the island’s nightlife hotspot. Some also have swimming pools, on-site bars and rooftop terraces.Įven though Koh Tao's small, it does have distinct areas. No matter how far they are off the beaten path, most Koh Tao hostels offer free Wi-Fi. You can base yourself in a hut next to Sairee Beach's white sands, in a traditional Thai bungalow surrounded by tropical greenery or in a hilltop Koh Tao hostel with island views. You’ll find lots of beachside hostels in Koh Tao as well as jungle retreats. Many travellers are drawn to Koh Tao by its easily accessed dive spots and vibrant coral reefs that are home to turtles and abundant sea life. As well as living it up on its bar-filled beach, it's easy to escape civilisation and venture up into the hills to find unforgettable views across the island. The small, lush sister of Koh Samui and Koh Pha-Ngan, this jungle-topped island feels excitingly undiscovered in places. ![]() Any island-hopping adventure off Thailand's east coast should feature Koh Tao.
